John David Simon And Friends With Clark Terry & Etta Jones on WarmGroove Records is the long awaited follow-up to his critically acclaimed debut album, Legacy: The John Simon Trio Featuring Don Patterson.

John David Simon has long been recognized by his peers as the consummate jazz artist, a big toned tenor saxophonist with a comprehensive knowledge of his instrument’s history and its masters and a wide range of experience with some of the music’s most important players, from Don Patterson and Charles Earland to Illinois Jacquet and Clark Terry.  On this new cd of never previously released material, Simon surrounds himself with many of the greats with whom he’s shared bandstands.  Clark Terry, who calls his friend Simon “Old Faithful” notes, “He knows how to swing … kind of reminds me of a player that has been around for a long time … like a lot of those cats that’s been around – Don Byas … Ben Webster … Hawkins and all them.”   On John David Simon And Friends With Clark Terry & Etta Jones the young veteran saxist swings mightily through a satisfying program of classic material and originals by himself and Terry, backed by the solid rhythm section of Mike Longo, Matthew Parrish and the great Bobby Durham, joined on various tracks by special guests Terry, Jones and Eddie Bert.
